There’s a lot of questions I’ve noticed about Marine Corps boot camp and why Marines are the way they are. If this isn’t some motivation for all you folks that want to be Marines I don’t know what is. I Absolutely agree with this Sgt.
Let me further expand that it’s not about the cursing per say but more the fact that we are growing to soft that the mothers have so much to say about how we train. It’s turning the new Marines soft, and the difference is obvious. I’m new Corps, and I admit freely that this is true. It has to be hard emotionaly and physically or the quality of Marine is not as high.

Full agreement here, and I’m only going to Navy Boot Camp. I heard one story from a recruiter:

"On graduation weekend at Boot Camp, I stubbed my toe really hard on the coffee table in my mom’s hotel room. Naturally, I dropped the F bomb. My sister looked at me, appalled, because she had never heard me cuss before. She looked at my mom, and started to protest. My mom said, ‘It’s okay, he can do that. He’s a sailor now.’"

Becoming a Sailor (or Marine, or Soldier, or Airman) means so much more than being able to cuss freely, though. They have earned their spot separate from the civilians, and they deserve to show that. You’re not in polite company, so you don’t have to act like it. If your drill sergeant is "nice" or "polite" to you, what are the chances that you’ll be motivated enough to be the best you can possibly be?
