im a 20year old healthy male, i leave for boot camp in San Diego on June 22nd next month. So far i can do 13 pull ups, 50 situps, 40 push ups and can run a mile and a half in 10 minutes. I would like this question to be answerd by Marines, What type of workouts should i work on, what do most of the workouts in the Marines consist of, should i start running with a back pack full of weights up a hill and do all kinds of pullups and situps and push ups or what, please give me all the advise possible so i can make a workout routine that will get me prepared for Boot camp. And how hard was Marine Boot Camp? is it almost to the point of being impossible?
A mile and a half in 10 minutes isn’t that great but you might get by.
You’re at a level that the Corps can work with, I wouldn’t worry about it. You may even be disappointed with the level they start out at. They take it easy at first and build you up.
Marine Corps recruit training is tough. It isn’t tough in the way you think it is. It will be a big surprise to you. Everyone wants to work on the physical aspects while recruit training is all mental. They tell you, straight out, that they will break you and remake you into a Marine. You can’t imagine what that entails.
You’ve got the physical part beat. I’ll give you the best advice you could get. Make up your mind what you want to do. If you want to be a marine then get the attitude that you are going to be a marine. They’ll get in your face and yell and scream. You gotta learn to accept that and keep going. The thing that will get you through recruit training is mental. Don’t let them get to you.
It’s as hard as you want to make it. Physically, any athlete and many others could make it. But, mentally, you have to decide you want to do it. No one can tell you what it’s like. You wouldn’t understand it until you’ve done it.
Oh, and Marine pull ups are done the hard way, palms forward. The other way is called a chin up.
Whoa John Wayne!!! You are already over qualified for boot camp. But let me clue you into a little secret. Listen, If you can do all of these amazing feats of physical acts now, all your compadres will be doing them by the end of boot camp or they won’t be there. My sage advice to you is to go along with what everyone else does and only do one or two more reps than every other recruit. If you show off, you will make yourself a clown and they will show you off to everyone who happens to come along. Don’t make yourself a high profile recruit or you will be sorry. This is a team effort all the way. They do not abide show-offs. You will make it through boot camp easily when it comes to physical tests. Your big problem will be…can you supress your ego and be a part of the team?
perfect score on the test for boot camp is 20 pull ups 100 crunches in 2m and 3 miles in 18 min
work on thos and alot of pushups and leg lifts
hey you probably want to be a squad leader. dont you. put alot of your work on pull ups. and just run everyday it doesn’t matter if you can run a mile and a half in ten minutes. its your endurance. when youre in war and your adrenaline is kickin in you ll have a little boost of speed. and more like 35 pull ups palms towards you, out ward. wide grip, everything pull ups, 150 crunches and 50 leg lifts, 100 push ups. your body is gonna be lean brah if you do this. also get a golds gym pass for one month and go swimming alot. and work out alot. be obsessed with working out for the next month. dont pay attention to girls partying. no shit like that. your talking about a marine and his rife. the deadliest bada$$ weopon on the planet. boot camp is gonna be hell right when you get off that damn bus. but be strong believe in yourself and you ll be honored. im going into the marines right when i get out of high school.
If you can do the Initial Physical Fitness requirements… start focusing on building flexibility and endurance in your legs…
You’ve already got an excellent head start on your Physical Training. Just keep hitting the sit ups and pull ups. And that running is important two.
As for running with a pack full of weights, you could be seriously injured with this kind of impromptu workout. Back or knee injuries are common, as well as the tendency to loose your balance and fall. Of course your going to be hiking with a pack during infantry training, something that all Marines go over regardless of their job. But that kind of activity is carefully designed and supervised.

Wimps go into boot camp and come out men.
As long as you’re physically healthy you’ll do fine.
Mentally is what burns out some. They can’t take the in your face discipline and 24/7 training.
Remember this, you enlisted so don’t cop an attitude later because you don’t like it.
It’s tough physically but the Corps doesn’t want mama’s boys.
Some guys crack because they miss home a or get a "Dear John" letter from the one who promised to wait.
Your going to a new home a new family, embrace it and it will do all it can to take care of you.

do what you explained, your always going to have a pft test and your always going to be working towards that so start early, work on you pull ups there the money maker in the pft, and work on your crunches and run run and run
