are law-abiding citizens. most of u live productive lives and obey the judicial system. but for some uncanny reasons, i could never figure out, most of u condone brutality in marine corps boot camp. 99.999% of u are in total agreement of drill instructors who may be on a powere trip or even suffering from some mental illness. to get to the point, most of u think physically beating a recruit is a nescessary form of training. i cant figure out in possible way a DI could ask a recruit to see a pic of his wife, call the recruit’s wife ugly, how can this behavior make this recruit a better marine? im just so glad i sent a DI to the brig for 6 months. i never recieved one answer on my behalf from the other sister services members. now my final question is, what is the motivation for covering up some of the illegal antics in marine corps boot camp?

What is the graduation rate of Marine Corps boot camp?
I’m going in with an Intel contract, any tips for someone like me who has no military experience at all? Anything that would be useful for not only boot camp, but the Marine Corps in general I would really appreciate . Thanks!

i have noticed that some recruits graduate as an E2 when they graduate from boot camp? how is this.. how do they do it, what do i have to do?
I’m going to be in the Marine Corps in a few years, because I’m a junior in high school now and I want to go to community college for a couple of years. Am I allowed to keep a log of my experiences during boot camp? Or would someone take it away? Let me know of your experiences if you have any. Thanks.
My step daughters boyfriend is coming home from boot camp the same week he was supposed to graduate, but he is not graduating and said something about having to return to boot camp at a later time. He told her that he saw some body huff something and didn’t report it, so he is being sent home? I am a former Marine and am having a hard time swallowing this excuse! I was wondering if things have changed this much or if this is even possible?

I am 20 years old and have already made the decision to enlist in the Marine Corps. I haven’t yet enlisted because I am making sure that I am completely ready and have everything in order so I can have everything squared away before boot camp.
I am in good physical shape with a few exceptions. I can run a mile somewhere between 6:30 and 7:00, so I should have no problem passing that portion of the IFT. I have strong core muscles as well and can perform anywhere between 70 and 80 sit-ups in 2 minutes, depending on how well I pace myself; therefore, I should have no problem with that portion of the IFT. However, I encountered a significant problem when I worked out yesterday. I realized that I have insanely poor upper body strength. I could barely manage 35 pushups (and nearly puked afterwards due to having just finished running and filling up on water), and even worse… I couldn’t even perform ONE LONE pull-up! (I know, laugh it off). This came as a surprise to me. I thought that after having been in top physical condition all my life that I would, even after having gone quite a few years without doing pull-ups, been able to do at least a few. This is very upsetting for me because I want nothing more in my life than to be a Marine, even if I have to die trying.
I want to get this problem out of the way so I can enlist as soon as possible. I don’t want to wait any more than I have to. How can I get better at pull-ups if I can’t even do one? What are some exercises I can perform to get better and increase the number of pull-ups I can do? Also, should I get this out of the way now, or just wait until I get in the PTP (physical fitness platoon) to improve my pull-ups? My end goal is to graduate boot camp with at least a high second class PFT score. I am confident that I will be able to succeed at everything else (drills, exams, rifle range tests), so my only concern is the physical part. Thanks for all answers and any advice.
I’ve heard all the stories, watched all the videos, and read all the articles, but I want an honest answer from a marine, what is boot camp really like? What was going through your head?

was strange lol, in the head. they brought them in one at a time to beatr them up to try to make them square their act away. one recruit was knocked out in the head and carried back to his rack and the squad leaderes covered him up like he was asleep when he was knocked out. the funny part is, there were two black guys from california who were friends. the squad leaders called one of them to come in the head(bathroom). they both told the squad leaders that if ANYONE of them put a hand on either of the two friends, they better sleep with one eye open! the two black friends SCARED the squad leaders and told the squad leaders that if they look at them wrong the squad leaders would end up in sickbay. those two black guys were tough! those two guys breezed thru boot camp after they told the squad leaders that. this is just the small picture of how the Marine Corps uses intimidation to scare recruits and yuoung Marines. my question is for NCOs, how would u have handle the two black friends?
