Question about Marine Recruit Training Humps?

Anybody who clearly remembers Recruit training, or graduated recently, what did you have to pack in your ruck? Also what was the weight?

Im leaving for MCRD San Diego in a few months and I want to start training now.

Also tips and tricks on how to survive would be nice.
yeah but if Im in tip top shape when I get there, imagine how much better Ill be after they smoke me for 12 weeks.

Oorah.

Try to prepare your self mentally, if possible.

It doesn’t matter, they will always push you to the limit of what you can physically handle. I’d start with a pack of about 40 lbs maybe a little more. The general rule on a real hump would be to only pack what you will need to survive. Plan on wearing a 20 lb flac vest too and a Kevlar helmet and carrying a 7 lb rifle.
