A Marine who completes his enlistment and joins another service is not required to attend recruit training,

Why do other services have to attend MCRD?

MCBCS RESPONSE:
The answer is obvious to anyone that has gone through Marine recruit training.  The quick answer is that boot camp in any branch of service is an indoctrination into military life.  That indoctrination is essential for anyone making the transition from civilian to military.  As most everyone knows, Marine Corps boot camp is all about that indoctrination, unlike any other branch of United States military service.

Below is a link that is FREE for some Amazon.com customers that is to an EBook that explains the answer in such a way that shows how tough that indoctrination can be to a civilian.

If you are an overweight Marine then it is a safe bet that you are reading this in a room all alone right now?  If you are a Marine overweight the last thing you want to do is discuss it in front of your friends and fellow Marines.  You feel shame and sort of an outcast.  You feel as if the others are lucky because they stay in shape with an obvious ease.  Your spouse may know you are dealing with the issue but yet you notice the uniforms getting a little bit tighter.  If you are in the wing, then the bulge in the belly is getting quite noticeable in your flight suit.  If you are getting to the point of being too heavy, then you are also worried about being able to pass not only the weight standards, but also the PFT.  I am writing this article because I too was once dealing with that issue, and I did not have the advantage of the Internet as you do at this moment.  I am here to present you with a solution that can change your entire situation in 30 days, or less.

I want you to read this entire article and pay attention to what I have to say because I was not only a Marine I was an enlisted Marine that went on to become an officer.  I went through Parris Island and then O.C.S, followed by T.B.S.  I present you these credentials because I want you to understand that I am not some slick salesman out here trying to make a quick buck.  (Click here for my story) I am a fellow Marine that spent many years serving The Corps and although I may be from a generation before, my pride of having served runs deep with me, even today.  If you are a Marine that is struggling with weight issues, pay attention because I can help, but you have to be ready to help yourself.

Depending on how overweight you are as a Marine, and the time frame you have to lose weight, there are the over-riding factors that you are dealing with right now.  I can’t fill in the date blanks for you because only you know those dates, but what I will say that if you have to do a pull-up…every pound you lose will make each pull-up that much easier to complete.

What I will tell you is that you will never be an obese Marine, because The Corps will not allow it to happen.  Once all of the ribbing from your buddies is over, the end result is that somewhere along the line you will find yourself as a person that USED to be an active duty Marine.  If you do not make a significant change really soon, your days of glory may be over before you know it, or desire them to be over.

Now that I have forecasted you all of the bad and distressing news, let me shed some light on the situation that will make it a little better.  If you need to lose weight then it is not something that has to be an event that goes on for the rest of your life, like it did for so many years with me.  You need to approach weight loss as a way that is similar to re-booting your body.  You just need to make some changes and spend a fixed period of time losing weight until you reach your goal.  During the weight loss phase you live a disciplined existence and once your goal weight is achieved, your life can return to normal.  It took me about 5.5 months to lose 115 pounds and I bet you have no where near that weight to lose if you are a Marine overweight.  I can say this because I know The Corps would have dismissed you long ago if you were that obese.

I started this website with the SOLE purpose of helping young Marines understand and expect what was coming their way as they prepared for Marine Corps basic training.  It was not until I saw there were so many older Marines dealing with weight gain that I felt compelled to add this section.  It was not until I felt the pain of so many silent Marines that were as if they were some sort of silent culture “hidden” inside the Corps that needed help.  For the reason of helping Marines, I created this small section on this vast website of mine, to offer a hand of assistance to any Marine that was seeking help.

The last thing you want to do is become a Marine that is getting fat.  I stress getting fat because there really are no Marines overweight for very long because they soon get promoted to civilian.  You, and only you, know your situation and I hope for your sake that you make the change needed to at least get through your next tour of duty.  You really should want to exit the Corps on your terms, because if you do not….you will regret it for the rest of your days.

If you are seeking help I encourage you to take a few steps to make the change that you know you need to do.  If you do not make the change you will soon be past the point of ridicule, and may simply be looking at separation.  To help you I offer you a few avenues of help.

I can make this as personal or as impersonal for you.  If you simply want information then I suggest you follow the link to my other website that goes into great detail as to how to make weight loss a reality.  You need to make the change and I will be here to help you as little or as much as you want that help.  You can be completely unknown to me, or I can become your weight loss mentor that offers assistance.  Whatever you decide, you will NEVER pay me even one penny!

It is all up to you actually!
