One Response to Marine Corps boot camp weight problem?

  • Scott S says:

Ask your recruiter what the current Marine corp policy is. If they give out supplements, ask for them now!

If you want to gain weight and are male, you can do so by eating enough and doing an effective workout.

Increase your calories 10% and see if you start gaining. If you are still not gaining, keep increasing in 10% steps until you do. Get protein with each meal (even if only milk), at least, 3x per day. A post workout recovery drink taken within 45 minutes of a workout is important. Chocolate milk is an inexpensive and effective choice. Don’t workout in the morning without a meal. Get up early if necessary to eat.

An effective workout should include major compound exercises that work many muscles at once, for example:

Squat and/or deadlift (start light if you are new to these)
    Overhead press
    Pull-ups
    Bench press
    Bent-over row
    Back extensions
    Favorite ab exercises.

Do not do more than 15 minutes of aerobics within 6 hours of a weight workout. Better to do them on an off day.

    Thanks for your service!
