My friend told me several months ago that he would be leaving for Marine corps boot camp June 8th. June 8th came and went and he told me he was leaving either the 28th or 29th of June, I asked him again today and he told me he doesn’t know, and that they said there was gonna be a delay or something.
I’m at the point now where I don’t trust said friend, because of a lot of lies he’s told me and his girl friend.
Just wanted to know if they actually do that, delaying kids scheduled to go, or is he just saying that because he’s having second thoughts?
By the way, he is supposed to go to Parris Island.

They can delay it, but the dates are set so he ight have asked to sent out later. The thing is he said he was being sent the 28th or 29th of June?

I just checked the Marine dates and there is no ship date those two dates. You might wanna check out the website link i provide. Hmmm sounds like he’s thinking twice about this,

delays going to boot camp can happen because of the MOS school they are going to after boot camp might have had a change in its schedule.

They don’t want a person getting done with boot camp then sitting around for months waiting for their school to open up.

I swore in on july 1986 and wa s gone for basic in november, if he had a delay, he would be gone in another five months. ask him when he swore in. he can;t leave until he signs a contract and went theru MEPS. ask him what his MOS (the job he chose). if he can;t give you simple info like this then he is blowing smoke up your ass.

This actually happened to my boyfriend, and I almost started thinking the same thing. He was supposed to leave in January, but didn’t. Then he was scheduled for Feburary, and still didn’t go. There could be numerous reasons. He was having trouble with getting his high school transcript. Then his plane was delayed three other times because of the Valcano eruptions. He did leave in April though, and now graduates in 20 days. :)

Miami Dolphin he can’t be AWOL/UA until he graduates boot camp and is considered a Marine. Right now, he is a civilian.

To the poster, delays do happen. However, recruiters usually like to get these guys out on the scheduled date.

  • Miami Dolphin:

He might be AWOL, if I were you I’d be going to his recuiter real fast, and get some numbers for some MP’s or find out what is going on. That is desertion in a time of war….and a very long time in prison.

Dude, if he has signed the dotted line, and raised his hand for a solumn oath to protect the President of the United States, so help me God…then he is IN the Marines…he skips his date to go into boot camp, he is AWOL, though yes, there are schedule changes, but I’d check to me sure, kk?

Why all the thumbs down when it is true? If y’all are in the military, then y’all need some serious help in life. This isn’t even opinion, this is a stated true fact. Why don’t you look up your regs sometime.

My ex-fiance pulled this crap on me. He was supposed to leave June 25th – it got pushed back to July 15th. He was supposed to leave then, and it got pushed back until August.

You know why? He was failing drug tests, and they had to push it back until he’d be able to pass it at Parris Island.

Believe me – they won’t push it back just because he has doubts. He’s signed his contract. They won’t let him out of it that easily. It probably has something to do with his MOS and the scheduling of schools.
