I was the Senior Drill Instructor marching the platoon (Hotel, ’88-’90) and came across this video a few months ago by accident. I nearly shit when I realized someone had actually been walking around with a video camera! I’d have certainly taken my platoon elsewhere if I’d known . . . . This is great stuff!
i remember the camie inspections and i remember when my father wore the v neck t shirts. My father is Marine Corps Vietnam vet too. I remember it very well Platoon 2063/ 26 January 1996 OORAH!! GOD bless Marines!
@aschemann01 I agree. This brings back great memories. I LOVED drilling when I was in boot camp. That was the ONLY thing I looked forward to while at MCRD-SD.
It’s funny how back in the late 1980s, the older Marines called us young Marines “the Pepsi Generation”. Now the prresent generation of Marines would call us “Old Corps”. Kinda how the WWll vets looked down on the Vietnam vets while OUR generation of Marines WORSHIPPED Vietnam Vets. It’s a funny cycle.
yea but now all of the Marines vets dont even know what to say about this new generation…the past generations the vets had no choice but to join the Corps whether they wanted to or not but this present day generation of sociopaths who join and are willing to kill and die…idk you would have to talk to an actual vietnam veteran to see what they think about this new generation…GENERATION KILL
@imustbebored2behere And even they didn’t change until 2002. I spent the summer of ’02 at MCRD San Diego. Lima Co. We were like the 4th to last company to wear the old cammies and black boots. By the time we got back to MCRD from Pendleton, it seemed like everyone was in the new cammies.
