    LEO,
Congrats for manning up. It will be one of those life memories that you will never forget. I would go with you but I am retiring in 4 months. You can do it!

    Best of luck

Good luck mate! I’ve already been there… it won’t be much of a vacation, but definitely a good change of pace. If you’re going to Hollywood be sure to check out San Diego with your friends / family afterwards.

I would love to re-enlist in your place! I was too immature and didn’t realize I should have stayed in. Now I am too old. I can tell you this much though. The difficulty now is nothing compared to My basic. My basic was nothing compared to My Father’s, and his was nothing compared to his Father’s. Each new generation of enlistees gets it easier and easier. Drill Sergeants can no longer hit you or make you do things that can physically harm you. Hell, they even give out stress cards so you can take a break if it gets too much for you. This gets you ready for being captured and possibly tortured? You better give it ALL you got and not make it a boys camp or you will only be hurting yourself if the time ever comes when you need all the physical and mental strength you can muster!

    just a reply to jaydubb…
Stress cards are around anymore.. at least in the navy..
While i agree its not as hard there is still alot of hazing swept under the table ;)
And they can still hit you if provoked.. some advice- When they chest pump you don’t push back they’ll smack you down heh.

  • that one girl ツ:

no thanks, i can’t even stand my PE class.

There are no stress cards I graduated nov 7 from kilo 3rd bn on the island I got to say its a rollercoaster. you are down you get pretty motivated it gets shot down and it goes back up just realize that the ones are the bigest dicks to you are the best Marines. I was told and I also beleave there are mainly 2 types of leaders there are the ones who are great leaders they are dicks to you they push you over your limits and they teach you all they know and they demand nothing but the very best from you. And there are leaders who just dont care and will not stand up for you even if you are in the right and are allways chill with you etc. Remeber when you are getting sugar cookied or you are having a long quarter deck visit that its only to better you. There is a method to the madness

My husband is a Marine, if you think for one second that it is going to be easy think again. I’ve seen first hand men and women get broke down in boot camp…..NO WORRIES! That is the reason for it, you become a MUCH better person when you are finished!! Boot camp is no easy treat for anyone, and the Marines boot camp is the longest and hardest for a reason. Why do you think it says the FEW and the proud! Not many make it, i know my husband had 13 drop from boot camp in the second week! As long as you have a great support system from home, and those letters keep pouring in to remind you of the reason you enlisted in the first place, you will be fine. Keep your head up when you get there and one of the things my husband said to tell you………PRACTICE DRILL!!! Tell your recruiter when you all do warrior training, they should practice that with you! Semper Fi and best of luck to you!
