Let me tell you that no matter what you are told it can never be what really lies ahead. Be prepared that your life will be turned upside down. I don't think my daughter was prepared and she is now enjoying parts of boot camp when at first she was sorry she went in. I know this was because she did not know how it was really going to change her life and really what it was going to be like. The first few weeks will be hell for you and be prepared for the most dramatic change in your life. I don't even think that will prepare you for what boot camp is like. Just remember it is not a camp per say but a changing life event preparing you for war. It is not a fun ordeal it is a lot of work and it is for 24 hours a day. My daughter has kept out of the drama with most of the girls and has worked hard in which she is successful and will be graduating this upcoming March 9th. I am not persuading you not to join but it is serious businesss and go in there wanting to be successful. Working hard and not playing the drama will get you far. Good luck. Letters take anywhere from 4 to 5 days to receive. A very long time when that is only the correspondence.
A proud mother of a soon to be Marine!!!!!!

Hey, this website is awesome. I am very interested in becoming a Marine. I'm a senior in high school and I want to enlist, but I also want to go to college. I know I am definetly enlisting after college, but do you think it is better to enlist before, during, or after college?

MCBCS RESPONSE:
I responded to your yahoo email.

I am Planning on enlisting right after high school and doing infantry. Would it be feasible for me to do my four years, then use the GI Bill to get through college, then go to OCS and become a pilot? Also, my uncle flies AF 1, would that give me a leg up like you said before, even though he is in the air force? Thanks
