Marine Corps Videos

This is one of six parts of the October graduation weekend from boot camp at Parris Island. The first four videos show the sergeants getting the recruits in order by battalion, preparing for their upcoming march for family day into the auditorium and the actual graduation ceremony on the deck the next day. The editing suffers a bit due to me not being sure of the start and stop times, locations, the delays, (I omitted speeches – be thankful). These are the 25th Marines, 4th regiment, 3rd Battalion. October 2, 2009 I will change this description as inevitable flaws are pointed out.

Parris Island Marh 6 2009 Graduation

We looked for a high quality video that would describe how an M16 functions.  Unfortunately we could not find any high quality military videos, so we found this one made by a civilian. (Only in America!)  This video may not be an Ma16A4, but for the purpose of needing a video, this one works fine.  In fact this is a great video that can expose someone seeking information on an M16.

He goes over all of the nomenclature of the M16 and explains how it works.  A great video!

This guy knows what he is talking about and he presents this video in a great way and it is hoped that you can get familiar with what he is talking about, if you are looking to gather some information for getting ready for boot camp.  After you watch the first video, check out the short video that is next that shows you how it all functions.

The Eagle, Globe and Anchor Ceremony is the culminating ceremony of Marine Corps Recruit training.  It is only after the completion of all requirements of becoming a Marine have been accomplished.  It is the culmination of everything it took to gain entry to Marine Corps boot camp… to standing on the yellow footprints…to completing the Crucible.

At the end of the Crucible, before the Warriors breakfast, all Marines march miles back to main-side and are presented with an Eagle, Globe and Anchor.  It is at that moment that a recruit is transformed into a Marine.

To the outsider…to those that never earned the title, this ceremony may not look like much, but to those that have earned the title…well…you know what I mean!

The Marine Corps Crucible is a culminating event for recruits during Marine Corps boot camp.  The entire 3 Day evolution is designed to test a recruit for what they have learned during training,  The Crucible is a non-stop cycle of events and scenarios that are designed to test the resolve-of recruits, while helping to forge the bond of being a Marine.  A recruit that enters the Crucible does so as an individual, but quickly learns that, in combat, they have a much greater chance of completing the mission, and staying alive, if they work together as a team.

Recruits are broken down into squad size units and presented with problem scenarios.  What recruits learn quickly is that in order for “the mission” to be a success, all the recruits have to address the problem as a team to achieve the best results.  The time spent on the Crucible is demanding, non-stop and will wear you down.  Check out the videos below for a taste of what is in store for you if you decide to accept the challenge of Marine Corps boot camp.

If you want to experience The Marine Corps Crucible, you need to watch ALL the videos below.  You will learn all about how The Corps got to the Crucible and we got to this point in training today.  This is well worth watching!

Most do not realize that the training in boot camp that takes place in the gas chamber is really designed to get you believing that your equipment can, and will save your life.  The entire evolution is designed to prove to you that if you simply follow proceedures and do it the way you are trained, you will be fine.

Below is a video of an Army unit that is going through gas chamber training and it was chosen because it is a very good portrayal of what the experience is all about.

Marine Corps Combat Boots.  We all know that Marines are known for making the impossible a reality. We all know the many stories about how the battles were fought and won. The one thing that is always overlooked when looking at the exploits of the Marine Corps is the fact that everywhere the Marines were, they took their feet. I know that sounds really dumb, but the truth is that The Corps is all about the traditional phrase…”boots on the ground”.

The one thing that is often overlooked when preparing for Marine Corps boot camp is the fact that your feet need to be in good shape to graduate.  If you over look your feet while getting ready for boot camp you may be setting yourself up for some difficulty during your stay in boot camp.  It is suggested that if you have the time needed to break in your feet to wearing boots, then you should get yourself a set of boots very similar to what is worn in boot camp.  The closest thing we found is made by Danner and we placed this video here for your review.

We are not telling everyone to get a set of boots, we are just placing this here to help you get ready for boot camp while making you think about your feet.  While you are in boot camp you will be subjected to many things and the last thing you will need is to have to deal with blisters on your feet.  We are not telling you that you won’t get a blister while in boot camp, but we will tell you that you can minimize any blisters by simply allowing your feet a few weeks, or months to get adapted to the wearing of boots.

If you have the time, you simply need to wear the most similar boots available to combat boots and that alone will toughen up your skin.  Also, if you get a pair before you go to boot camp, you will know for sure what size you will need.  During the pressure of being in receiving, the last thing you need to do is ask for the wrong size boots.  Not only will you “annoy” your Drill Instructors, you run the risk of getting blisters and that would be bad since blisters will not get you a day off from training.  Nobody will really care.  Blisters will just make your life even more miserable.

Check out the video we found on the web, we did not post it and yet we agree with everything stated.
Whatever you do…take care of your feet so boot camp isn’t a pain in the foot, as well as a pain in the …
