Female Marines

I hesitated to title this article about being a FEMALE Marine article, but that was the only way I could get many prospective Marines that are thinking about joining the Corps.  If you are a female and ever hope to become a Marine, you will need to stop thinking of yourself as a female.  NO!  That does not mean you need to become some butch creature that can kick the ass of anyone and drink beer with the best of them.  What is intended by the statement is that if you are a female and hope to complete Marine Corps boot camp you will be expected to go shoulder to shoulder with any other Marine.

It can be confusing and I do not want to send the signal that Marine Corps boot camp physical stuff is easy, because it is not.  What ALL future recruits need to understand is that Marine Corps boot camp is much tougher on the mind than it is on the body.  That is where all the discipline comes into play.  The strongest and mightiest recruit in Marine Corps history was ground into exhaustion, just like every other recruit that has passed through the portals of a MCRD.

You have always thought that a woman could do the job as well as a man…and The Corps feels the same way!  Below is a link to Amazon.com that has an EBook that is all about getting ready for everything The Corps has to throw at you.  In that book you will read about so much more than physical training as it covers academics and even the emotional aspect.  If you thought Marine Corps boot camp was all about physical training you only had a partial answer.  Check out the link and for some Amazon.com members…it is 100% FREE!

Marine Corps Boot Camp Survival Guide

What Woman Should Expect In Marine Corps Boot Camp is the exact same thing that a male Marine expects.  A woman needs to expect to have their boundaries pushed past the point of what they ever thought they would be able to achieve.  The one noticeable difference a woman can expect in Marine Boot Camp is that they will train at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (MCRDPI) and not at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego (MCRDSD).   Woman  only train to become Marines at Parris Island. Not woman Marines...Just Marines. Do not expect that the training for a woman recruit will be any easier than for a male recruit.  There are even many that believe female Drill Instructors are tougher than any male Drill Instructors.  There is a definite sense of competitiveness there and maybe that is why they drive the female recruits so hard.

How To Prepare For Boot Camp

We are really not going to spend much time on what females do in Marine Corps Boot Camp because it is really the same thing and that can be traced in the history and the training of Marines.  To sum it all up….when the Marines are called in to serve their nation and it is a combat situation all Marines have had the same basic training.  If a Marine pilot gets shot down, he can pick up a weapon and know how to use it.  If a Marine cook is in a back lines and that base gets over-run, he can pick up a rifle and kill the enemy just as easily as a trained rifleman can.  If a woman Marine is in some back operational support area and the enemy comes flooding in, they too will be able to pick up a weapon and kill.  The success of the Marine Corps is based upon the fact that ALL Marines are basically training warriors.

If you are looking for some special information on what to expect as a woman Marine or a female Marine recruit, you need to forget it.  A female will be treated like a Marine and will be expected to act like a Marine.  The training is tough and the physical fitness portion will kick ass just as easily as any male training.   If you are a female and do not think you have what it takes to be able to fight and kill, then you need to join the Air Force and HOPE that your base never gets attacked.  If you doubt what is said here, just tell that to the 75+ military personnel that were female that died in Iraq since 2003.  The military may be a place to learn how to be a nurse, and that is cool, BUT you are betting your own blood that if the shit hits the fan and you are in the military, you may be called upon to fight.  Woman or no woman, it will not matter.  The one thing that will matter is that if things do go south, you will be glad you were trained like a Marine, because it is that training that will save your life.

If you are a woman Marine looking for insight on how to prepare for Marine Corps Boot Camp you need to stop looking for how a woman will be treated because that is a flawed thought right from the start.  If you are a woman and join the Marines, you will be treated like a Marine, so you better be ready for boot camp before you show up at the gates.  Male or female, to earn the title of United States Marine will be the most difficult thing you ever did.  You will have to earn it, that is one thing that is for sure.
